 Classic Guacamole Recipe

Yields: 4 servings

Ingredients:

 * 3 ripe avocados, peeled, pitted, and mashed

 * 1/4 cup diced red onion

 * 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro

 * 1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and minced (optional)

 * 1 clove garlic, minced

 * 1 lime, juiced

 * 1/2 teaspoon salt

 * 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin (optional)

Instructions:

 * Combine ingredients: In a medium bowl, combine the mashed avocados, diced onion, chopped cilantro, jalapeño (if using), minced garlic, lime juice, salt, and cumin (if using).

 * Mash and mix: Mash the mixture together with a fork until it reaches your desired consistency. Some people prefer a chunky guacamole, while others like it smoother.

 * Taste and adjust: Taste the guacamole and adjust the seasonings as needed. Add more lime juice, salt, or jalapeño for extra flavor.

 * Serve: Serve immediately with tortilla chips or use as a topping for tacos, burritos, or salads.

Tips:

 * Choose ripe avocados: Ripe avocados will be slightly soft to the touch.

 * Add tomatoes: For a more traditional Mexican flavor, add diced tomatoes to the guacamole.

 * Keep it fresh: To prevent browning, cover the guacamole with plastic wrap, pressing the wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole to create a seal.

 * Customize your guacamole: Add other ingredients like diced tomatoes, chopped green onions, or a pinch of cayenne pepper for extra spice.
