Classic Margarita Recipe
Yields: 1 serving
Prep time: 5 minutes
Ingredients:
* 2 ounces tequila (blanco or reposado)
* 1 ounce orange liqueur (Cointreau, Triple Sec, or Grand Marnier)
* 1 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
* Salt for rimming the glass (optional)
* Lime wedge for garnish
Instructions:
* Rim the glass (optional): If desired, rub a lime wedge around the rim of a margarita glass. Dip the rim in a plate of salt to create a salty rim.
* Combine ingredients: Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the tequila, orange liqueur, and lime juice.
* Shake and strain: Shake vigorously for about 10-15 seconds until well-chilled. Strain into the prepared glass.
* Garnish: Garnish with a lime wedge.
Tips:
* Use fresh lime juice: Freshly squeezed lime juice makes a big difference in flavor.
* Experiment with tequila: Blanco tequila is the traditional choice for margaritas, but reposado or añejo can also be used.
* Adjust sweetness: If you prefer a sweeter margarita, add a small amount of agave nectar or simple syrup to taste.
* Make it frozen: For a frozen margarita, blend the ingredients with ice in a blender until smooth.
Enjoy your refreshing and classic margarita!
