A chocolate cake recipe

 Yields: 1 (9-inch) round cake

Prep time: 15 minutes

Cook time: 30-35 minutes

Ingredients:

 * 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

 * 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

 * 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

 * 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda

 * 1 teaspoon salt

 * 1 cup granulated sugar

 * 1 cup buttermilk

 * 1/2 cup vegetable oil

 * 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

 * 1 cup boiling water

Instructions:

 * Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

 * Combine dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

 * Combine wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the sugar, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla extract.

 * Combine wet and dry ingredients: Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

 * Add boiling water: Slowly pour the boiling water into the batter, whisking constantly until smooth.

 * Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

 * Cool: Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Tips:

 * For a richer flavor, use Dutch-processed cocoa powder.

 * You can add chocolate chips or chopped nuts to the batter.

 * To make a two-layer cake, divide the batter between two 8-inch round cake pans.

 * This cake is best served with chocolate frosting, but you can use your favorite frosting recipe.

Enjoy your delicious homemade chocolate cake!
