Easy Baked Ribs

Easy Baked Ribs are a great way to make tender, flavorful ribs without needing a grill or smoker. Baking them in the oven allows the meat to become perfectly cooked and infused with flavor. Here’s a simple and delicious method to bake ribs:

Ingredients:

2 racks of baby back ribs or spare ribs (about 2-3 lbs total)

2 tbsp olive oil (optional)

Salt and pepper to taste

1 tbsp garlic powder

1 tbsp onion powder

1 tbsp smoked paprika (or regular paprika)

1 tsp chili powder (optional)

1 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite variety, or homemade)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Ribs:

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). This low and slow temperature ensures tender ribs.

Remove the silver skin (the thin, tough membrane) from the back of the ribs. To do this, slide a knife under the membrane and pull it off using a paper towel for a better grip.

Pat the ribs dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

2. Season the Ribs:

Rub the ribs with olive oil (optional), which helps the seasoning stick and adds flavor.

In a small bowl, combine salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and chili powder (if using). Sprinkle this seasoning mixture generously over both sides of the ribs, rubbing it in to ensure the ribs are well-coated.

3. Bake the Ribs:

Place the ribs on a large baking sheet lined with aluminum foil or parchment paper for easy cleanup. For even cooking, place the ribs bone-side down.

Cover the ribs with another piece of aluminum foil to help keep them moist during baking.

Bake in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours, until the meat is tender and begins to pull away from the bones.

4. Apply the BBQ Sauce (Optional):

After baking, remove the ribs from the oven and discard the top layer of foil.

Brush your favorite barbecue sauce over the ribs. You can be generous with the sauce for a more flavorful result.

Return the ribs to the oven (uncovered) for an additional 20-30 minutes, baking at the same temperature to allow the sauce to caramelize.

5. Rest and Serve:

Once done, remove the ribs from the oven and let them rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.

Slice between the bones and serve with extra barbecue sauce on the side.

Tips:

For Extra Tender Ribs: To make the ribs even more tender, you can bake them covered in foil at 275°F for 3-4 hours.

Add Extra Flavor: You can marinate the ribs for a few hours or overnight with your favorite seasoning or barbecue sauce before baking for added flavor.

Crispy Finish: If you like a crispy finish on the ribs, you can broil them for 2-3 minutes after applying the BBQ sauce.
