Yields: 4 servings
Prep time: 5 minutes
Cook time: 12 minutes
Ingredients:
* 4 large eggs
Instructions:
* Place eggs in a pot: Gently place the eggs in a single layer in a medium saucepan.
* Cover with cold water: Add enough cold water to cover the eggs by about 1 inch.
* Bring to a boil: Bring the water to a rolling boil over high heat.
* Remove from heat and let stand: Once boiling, remove the pot from the heat and cover it tightly with a lid. Let the eggs stand in the hot water for 10-12 minutes for perfectly cooked yolks.
* Ice bath: While the eggs are standing, prepare an ice bath by filling a large bowl with cold water and ice cubes.
* Transfer to ice bath: After 10-12 minutes, carefully transfer the eggs to the ice bath using a slotted spoon. Let them cool completely in the ice bath, about 10-15 minutes.
* Peel and enjoy: Gently tap the eggs on a hard surface to crack the shells all around. Peel under cold running water for easier peeling.
Tips:
* Prevent cracking: To prevent the eggs from cracking during boiling, add a teaspoon of salt to the water.
* For easier peeling: Add a tablespoon of vinegar to the boiling water.
* Adjust cooking time: For softer yolks, reduce the cooking time to 8-9 minutes. For firmer yolks, increase the cooking time to 15-18 minutes.
Enjoy your perfectly cooked hard-boiled eggs!
