Lassi is a refreshing Indian yogurt-based drink that can be enjoyed sweet or savory. Here's a basic recipe for both versions:

Ingredients:

 * For both versions:

   * 1 cup plain yogurt (thick and chilled)

   * 1/2 cup water (or milk)

 * For Sweet Lassi:

   * 2-3 tablespoons sugar

   * 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder (optional)

   * A pinch of saffron strands (optional)

 * For Salt Lassi:

   * 1/2 teaspoon roasted cumin powder

   * 1/4 teaspoon black salt (kala namak)

   * 1/4 teaspoon chaat masala (optional)

   * Pinch of salt (adjust to taste)

Instructions:

 * Blend:

   * In a blender, combine yogurt and water (or milk).

   * Blend until smooth and frothy.

 * Sweet Lassi:

   * Add sugar, cardamom powder (if using), and saffron strands (if using) to the blended yogurt.

   * Blend again for a few seconds until well combined.

 * Salt Lassi:

   * Add roasted cumin powder, black salt, chaat masala (if using), and salt to the blended yogurt.

   * Blend again for a few seconds until well combined.

 * Serve:

   * Pour the lassi into chilled glasses.

   * Garnish with chopped nuts (almonds, pistachios) or a sprig of mint (optional).

   * Serve immediately.

Tips & Variations:

 * For a thicker lassi: Use less water or add a spoonful of cream.

 * For a thinner lassi: Add more water or milk.

 * Mango Lassi: Blend ripe mangoes with yogurt, sugar, and a pinch of cardamom.

 * Strawberry Lassi: Blend strawberries with yogurt, sugar, and a little lemon juice.

 * Rose Lassi: Add a few drops of rose water to sweet lassi.

 * Chill the yogurt: Using chilled yogurt will result in a colder and more refreshing lassi.
