Homemade Strawberry Ice Cream Recipe
Yields: About 1 quart
Prep time: 20 minutes
Chill time: 4 hours or overnight
Freeze time: 20-30 minutes
Ingredients:
* 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
* 1/2 cup granulated sugar
* 1 cup whole milk
* 1 cup heavy cream
* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
* Pinch of salt
Instructions:
* Combine strawberries and sugar: In a medium bowl, combine the strawberries and sugar. Let stand for 15-20 minutes, or until the strawberries release their juices.
* Blend the mixture: Transfer the strawberry mixture to a blender. Blend until smooth.
* Combine remaining ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and salt.
* Combine mixtures: Pour the strawberry mixture into the bowl with the milk mixture. Stir gently to combine.
* Chill: Cover and chill the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or overnight.
* Freeze: Churn the chilled mixture in an ice cream maker according to the manufacturer's instructions.
* Harden: Transfer the ice cream to an airtight container and freeze for at least 2 hours, or until firm.
Tips:
* For a sweeter ice cream, add a bit more sugar to the strawberries.
* For a chunkier ice cream, reserve some of the strawberries and fold them into the ice cream after it's churned.
* To make the ice cream even more flavorful, use fresh, ripe strawberries.
* Garnish with fresh strawberries or a drizzle of chocolate sauce before serving.
Enjoy your homemade strawberry ice cream!
