meatloaf recipe

 Here's a classic meatloaf recipe:

Ingredients:

1 lb ground beef

1/2 lb ground pork (optional, or use all beef)

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup breadcrumbs (plain or seasoned)

1/4 cup milk

1 large egg

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon dried thyme (optional)

1/4 cup ketchup (for topping)

1 tablespoon brown sugar (optional, for topping)

---

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.

2. Prepare the meat mixture: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, chopped onion, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and thyme (if using). Mix everything together until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

3. Shape the meatloaf: Transfer the meat mixture to the prepared loaf pan and shape it into a loaf, or form it into a loaf shape on a baking sheet if you prefer a crispier crust.

4. Prepare the topping: In a small bowl, mix the ketchup with the brown sugar (if using). Spread this mixture evenly over the top of the meatloaf.

5. Bake: Place the meatloaf in the preheated oven and bake for 1 hour, or until the meatloaf reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C) and is cooked through.

6. Cool and slice: Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing to ensure it holds its shape.

---

Tips:

For a moister meatloaf, you can add a tablespoon or two of grated Parmesan cheese or a bit more milk.

You can also add a variety of vegetables to the meat mixture, like grated carrots or bell peppers, for extra flavor and moisture.

Enjoy your meatloaf with mashed potatoes or your favorite sides!
