 Classic Cheeseburger Recipe

Yields: 4 servings

Prep time: 15 minutes

Cook time: 10-12 minutes

Ingredients:

For the patties:

 * 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend)

 * 1/4 cup finely chopped onion

 * 1 clove garlic, minced

 * 1/4 cup breadcrumbs

 * 1 large egg

 * 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

 * 1/2 teaspoon salt

 * 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

 * 4 slices cheese (your favorite melting cheese)

For the burger:

 * 4 hamburger buns

 * 4 slices tomato

 * 4 slices onion

 * 4 lettuce leaves

 * Your favorite condiments (ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, etc.)

Instructions:

 * Make the patties: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the patties tough.

 * Form the patties: Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and form into 4 patties, about 1/2 inch thick. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent them from puffing up while cooking.

 * Cook the patties: Heat a grill or large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 5-7 minutes per side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 160°F.

 * Add cheese: Top each patty with a slice of cheese and cook for an additional minute or two, until the cheese is melted.

 * Assemble the burgers: Toast the hamburger buns if desired. Place a cooked patty on the bottom half of each bun. Top with tomato, onion, lettuce, and your favorite condiments. Place the top half of the bun on top.

 * Serve and enjoy: Serve your delicious cheeseburgers immediately.

Tips:

 * For juicier burgers, try adding a pinch of baking soda to the meat mixture.

 * If you don't have a grill, you can cook the burgers in a skillet.

 * Get creative with your toppings! Try adding bacon, avocado, mushrooms, or caramelized onions.

 * For a smoky flavor, grill the patties over indirect heat with some wood chips.

Enjoy your homemade cheeseburgers!
